I was just amazed. So many people I passed up. It kind of made me realize something. I suck- terribly. xD Seriously. Compared to these people, I'm a 5 year-old with a crayon. I think I've really let myself down. I expect so much from my art, and THIS is what I come up with? No. I can't accept that. Now I KNOW I'm going to have to start taking art lessons. It's just a fact. If I don't improve now, I'll never get into art school, meaning I won't end up becoming a better artist, and I'll end up like my father, working at sucky minimum wage jobs till I retire. That's the thing with my dad. He's a great drummer. The best, probably. Everytime his band plays, it's not the people who just came there to mosh and get drunk who enjoy them- it's the musicians. People are always amazed by my dad and how much work he puts into drumming. They also wonder why he's not out on the road, or why he's not doing this for a living. The answer is simple- he never went to college. He always regrets not going to music school. Truth be told, I sometimes think that if my parents hadn't had me and my sister, they could've actually done something with their lives.
My mom *was* a talented artist, but she eventually stopped, and now she doesn't have the gift.

I don't want to be like that, and this contest (and those god-like artists) have shown me this. Realizing how much better they are- how much better alot of artists are has really shaken me. is a friend of mine. She's been doing this comic of her's since she was 16. SIXTEEN! That was the first time I realized that youth is not a barrier for talent. Age is. I have to start this now, because comic book company's and publishers won't pay attention to me when I'm 35 and fresh out of college with slightly above average skills, and a resume about as long a script from a fortune cookie.
